Coin Cells: The Most Common Procurement Mistake (Wrong Code) 

Coin cells look similar but are not interchangeable. The code matters. 

Always specify the exact coin cell code (e.g., CR2032 vs CR2025) and do not accept “equivalents” unless your device documentation explicitly allows it.

Common Mistakes This Template Prevents 

1) Ordering the wrong variant 

“AA Duracell” can still mean different variants. Always specify the line/variant. 

2) Accepting near-expiry stock unknowingly 

Without a minimum shelf-life rule, you’ll receive stock that becomes dead inventory. 

3) Mixing coin cell codes 

CR2032 and CR2025 are not the same. One wrong digit can cause device failure. 

4) Allowing mixed expiry cartons 

Mixed expiry complicates rotation and increases complaints. 

5) Invoice descriptions that finance rejects 

If the invoice says “Battery” without brand/type/qty clarity, it slows payment and creates audit risk.
